STAIN REMOVAL TIPS
We hope you find this informal stain removal guide helpful as you prepare your clothes to sell. Unfortunately, some of the stains your little ones make on their precious outfits may never come out no matter how hard you try. But don't fret too much because some stains may come out, so give it a whirl! Who knows, the stained outfit you thought was destined for the trash may be saved and become someone else's treasure.
CHOCOLATE
Use detergent and hot water and launder as usual. If coloring remains, use a diaper wash cleanser and warm water.
DISCOLORED OR DINGINESS
Instead of bleaching the items, try 2 cups of hydrogen peroxide (3% kind) and 1/2 the amount of detergent you would normally use.
FECES
Use Nature's Miracle, following the directions on the bottle. Blot. Rinse in plain water. See if need to repeat. If not, wash as normal.
FORMULA
Try a 50/50 solution of 3% hydrogen peroxide and water. Soak for 30 minutes. Launder as normal. Air dry. Repeat if needed.
GRASS
Pretreat the stain with a stain spray or detergent. If stains remain, use some rubbing alcohol blotted onto stain. Wash in hot water.
MAGIC MARKER
Permanent usually, but you can try to use the cheap foamy kind of shaving cream on the stain. Wait for 30 minutes. Rinse with cold water.
TOMATO SAUCE
Sponge cold water onto stain. Pour glycerin over the stain and let sit for 30 minutes. Rinse in chlorinated bleach and warm water.
VOMIT
Sponge off with warm water and a little ammonia. Wash as normal.
YELLOWING
Try a 50/50 solution of 3% hydrogen peroxide and water. Wash as normal. Air-dry. Repeat if necessary, or try mixing a cup of non chlorine bleach, a cup of regular powder dishwasher soap, and laundry soap. Put that mixture in a load of hot water, add the clothes and soak overnight. Finish the cycle as usual in the morning.
GREASE SPOTS
Use dishwashing liquid, rub into the stain and wash as normal.
GREASE STAINS (on clothes that have been dried in the dryer)
Rub Baby Powder into the fabric and let sit about 5 minutes, then wash as normal. This may have to be done several times.
CRAYON (on clothing that was washed)
Use Goop (hand cleaner). Apply it to the stain and allow to sit, then put in your regular wash.
BLOOD
Soak the stain with Hydrogen Peroxide then wash as normal.
INK
Spray the stain with regular aerosol hairspray and then wash.
