VOLUNTEER POLICIES

VOLUNTEER PRE-SALE: FRIDAY APRIL 16, 9-10pm (may be moved to 8:00pm we will let you know in advance)
CONSIGNORS
All consignors and volunteers get to attend our PRESALE, Consignors who volunteer at least one shift will earn an extra 5% back on their total sales (65% instead of 60%). Consignors who complete two 3-hour shifts. We are capping consignor volunteer percentages at 10%for now, if the need arises we will make it possible for you to volunteer more than 2 shifts. (Capped volunteer percentages do not apply to certain SHARE options only worker hours)
BECAUSE KIDS GROW Consignors are automatically eligible workers (use your consignor login to sign up for shifts).
NON-CONSIGNORS
You do not need to be a consignor to participate as a volunteer at the sale. Non-consignors will however need to register as a worker first and if working a Saturday shift must mail us a $10 check prior to APRIL 12, 2010, which will be returned to you at your shift.
Anyone can volunteer --Moms, Dads, Grandparents, friends even teenagers (13 years and over)! We especially need male volunteers, as there can sometimes be some heavy lifting, especially during the sale set-up and tear down.
JOB DUTIES
SET UP: Join us to set up the sale. We get a great workout as we set-up racks and tables and prepare for check in. Dress casual. Some lifting required. Great time for husbands to volunteer.
CHECK IN: See what everyone is dropping off. Assist consignors in drop off, inspection of items & placing in appropriate area. (PreSale Shopping NOT allowed during any shifts)
ORGANIZE THE SALE: Do you love to organize? Join us as we organize and set-up the sale.
GREETER: This person will greet each person who walks into the sale. You will be handing out shopping bags, tagging shoppers’ personal items, and inviting people to join our mailing list. As people leave, you will also be checking their items to make sure that nothing is leaving the sale that has not yet been paid for.
DETAGGER: Help check-out items as you take off the tags. Perfect for those who like a fast paced environment.
SALES FLOOR ASSISTANT: Help keep the sale organized while also assisting shoppers.
TEAR DOWN: Assist consignors as they pick up unsold items. Help us tear down the racks and pack up the sale. Great time for husbands to volunteer.
**PLEASE NOTE: Children under 10 are not allowed to accompany moms on their working shifts, with one exception: If you would like to work while carrying your infant in a sling, sign up for a shift as a Greeter. This job can easily be done with a baby on board and we will accommodate nursing/feeding breaks. If you are NOT wearing a baby to work, please do not sign up for the Greeter position. There are a limited number of these shifts and we want to help new moms who want to work with us.
VOLUNTEER POLICY
In order to achieve a high quality event, we rely on volunteer workers to show up when they are supposed to. BECAUSE KIDS GROW CONSIGNMENT requires that volunteers fulfill their obligation to work the shifts they sign up for. All workers must be on time and work their entire shift (unless released early by a BECAUSE KIDS GROW CONSIGNMENT owner) in order to reap the benefits.
If you must cancel a work shift or reschedule your shift, please do so as soon as possible. You can remove yourself from a work shift and/or sign up for a new shift by logging in to the Volunteer Registration system until it's offline on THURSDAY APRIL 15, 2010 at 11:00pm.
Cancelling at the last-minute, leaves us short handed and unable to adequately handle traffic and sales. Workers who do not follow through with their commitment will be charged a $10 penalty. However, if you send a replacement, your privileges will stay intact. (Extenuating circumstances may be taken into consideration by BKG Staff).
This policy has been created in order to maintain a high quality sale. We want to attract only those volunteers who are responsible and dependable. Please thoughtfully consider the commitment before you put your name down for a shift.

NON-CONSIGNORS - At the log in screen, choose the option towards the bottom to sign up as a Worker. There you will set up a Worker Account and password.
CONSIGNORS - Log in with your consignor number and password so your shifts are linked to your consignor account and we can give you proper credit. If you do not have access, you probably have not paid yet or have not been cleared.
